SI is an important part of how we explore and develop trading ideas. It supports our research, while the purpose remains practical: to translate an observation about a market into a clearly defined strategy. We see technology as a means to develop that work, not as a substitute for a sound trading idea.

Research
We use SI to broaden the search for trading ideas and support their development. The starting point is a market question: what behaviour might be worth examining, and how could it be expressed as a set of rules? Our focus is on making ideas specific enough to investigate, rather than treating an interesting observation as a finished strategy.

Evaluation
A trading idea needs more than a compelling explanation. Defined strategy logic gives research something concrete to examine: what would trigger a trade, and under what conditions would the idea apply? Evaluation connects exploration with possible implementation. Research and simulation are distinct from live trading, and neither establishes what a strategy will deliver in the future.

Execution
Systematic trading connects strategy logic with predefined rules for execution. This is what we mean by “autopilot”: a rule-based approach to putting a strategy into practice, rather than making each trading decision afresh. Automation does not remove market uncertainty or the risk of loss.

Focused market coverage.
Our focus spans commodities, including gold, and equity indices. These markets provide the setting for our research and strategy development; individual strategies may be at different stages of development and use.
Indices
Our market scope also includes equity indices. Here, the focus is on developing rule-based trading approaches to index price movements, within the same research-led approach to strategy development.
